I've just graduated after my fifth year at Western Connecticut State University. Previously, I was a Graphic Design major. Over the course of my studies, however, I came to realize that this was not the area of study that I wished to pursue. After taking a required Illustration I course with a great professor, I was reminded of a fact that I had seemed to forget over the years, that I just have a passion for drawing. For as long as I can remember, I've always been drawing in my notebooks (perhaps too often, while I should have been taking notes), and doing many extra curricular things involving my artwork, be it illustrating for the student handbooks, or school functions, or doing small projects on the side for outside acquaintences. I mostly prefer to draw with just a pencil, but I'm actively broadening my experience with different mediums, most recently water colors. I'm inspired by all things fantasy, and you'll notice influences in my drawings of this. From the games I play, to the books I read and the artwork of other artists that I enjoy most, all have a common vein in fantasy. I've also recently spent a year living in Sunderland, England. This time was without a doubt the best of my life. It changed my personal outlook on life, and broadened my horizons, as well as perspectives on many things, including artwork and culture, to a very beneficial end. |
